Graystripe's Vow is a strange book for me to talk about。 It's the "newer" super editions, aka, the ones that connect more to the main series。 I don't typically enjoy the newer ones。 This one was no exception。I found the book a little pointless。 It doesn't have much to do with the main series。 You don't need to know what Graystripe did while he was gone。 Did I enjoy reading it? Not really。 It's like any other Warrior book when they travel somewhere and solve somebody's problem。 Anyways, this is Graystripe's Vow is a strange book for me to talk about。 It's the "newer" super editions, aka, the ones that connect more to the main series。 I don't typically enjoy the newer ones。 This one was no exception。I found the book a little pointless。 It doesn't have much to do with the main series。 You don't need to know what Graystripe did while he was gone。 Did I enjoy reading it? Library copyForgot that I hadn't read this one until the 6th graders descended upon the Warrior Cats section。 For me, these are akin to Brian Jacques and his medieval monk mice, but with cats that are constantly changing their names。 I read it, but feel unable to dutifully synopsize the story。 Graystripe isn't my favorite character (not that I have one; it's just not Graystripe!), and I find the super editions even more confusing than the regular stories。 This does not matter。 My students still Library copyForgot that I hadn't read this one until the 6th graders descended upon the Warrior Cats section。 For me, these are akin to Brian Jacques and his medieval monk mice, but with cats that are constantly changing their names。 I read it, but feel unable to dutifully synopsize the story。 Graystripe isn't my favorite character (not that I have one; it's just not Graystripe!), and I find the super editions even more confusing than the regular stories。 This does not matter。 My students still have an abiding love of this series and I buy all of the books, and then have to read them。 。。。more

This was an interesting read。 I was particularly interested by the Twoleg nest that Gremlin lived in。 That entire concept of a woman gone senile who hoards cats and can barely take care of herself is honestly so creepy to me。 I would love to see a side story that shows what happened before the woman lost her mind and the aftermath。 It would be so creepy to read from the cats' POV, but it would also be pretty interesting。 This was an interesting read。 I was particularly interested by the Twoleg nest that Gremlin lived in。 That entire concept of a woman gone senile who hoards cats and can barely take care of herself is honestly so creepy to me。 I would love to see a side story that shows what happened before the woman lost her mind and the aftermath。 It would be so creepy to read from the cats' POV, but it would also be pretty interesting。 。。。more

First I must say I am a fan of the Cat Warriors especially the first series and its characters, Firestar, Graystripe and Ravenpaw。 I really liked that the flashback part of the story focuses on the time when Firestar and Sandstorm search for Sky Clan and leave Graystripe as acting leader。 It was wonderful to revisit the old forest and the old characters that are mostly long gone。 Graystripe remains a valued member of Thunder Clan and is still needed in his Clan。

5/5⭐ When the Tribe and BloodClan are in the book you know this is about to be a great Warrior's story。 This book didn't end like I expected it to, and I am okay that we didn't get all the answers to the problem。 I liked how this book expanded on the difference between the past and present Clans like in "Tawnypelt's Clan"。 Also Graystripe is now officially one of my favorite character。 (Not just because his is the only one still alive。) 5/5⭐ When the Tribe and BloodClan are in the book you know this is about to be a great Warrior's story。 This book didn't end like I expected it to, and I am okay that we didn't get all the answers to the problem。 I liked how this book expanded on the difference between the past and present Clans like in "Tawnypelt's Clan"。 Also Graystripe is now officially one of my favorite character。 (Not just because his is the only one still alive。) 。。。more

A quality Super Edition!Honestly one of the best Super Editions to date。 Loved the perspective of a mature Graystripe contrasted with him in his youth。 Fills in gaps in the storyline without retconning anything。 Fits in snugly between books 3 and 4 of The Broken Code in chronology。

This book is one of my favourite super editions! I loved the dual plotline and WarriorClan was so funny。

I know this is supposed to be a bittersweet commentary on old age and the integrity vs。 despair stage of psychosocial development (Erik Erikson), which is an amazing concept for a Warrior Cats book and something I have been waiting to be tackled for a while, but this just was not executed well。 Greystripe, ignoring his normal personality, is such a bummer。 Over half of the book is just him being depressed whilst reminiscing the past, and it makes it very difficult to enjoy the book, especially w I know this is supposed to be a bittersweet commentary on old age and the integrity vs。 despair stage of psychosocial development (Erik Erikson), which is an amazing concept for a Warrior Cats book and something I have been waiting to be tackled for a while, but this just was not executed well。 Greystripe, ignoring his normal personality, is such a bummer。 Over half of the book is just him being depressed whilst reminiscing the past, and it makes it very difficult to enjoy the book, especially with how much of a sorry-for-himself coward Greystripe is。 And he REALLY does not let you forget it, mentioning his faults every other sentence。 I wish I was over exaggerating。 His character is better than this。 The Erins really did him dirty。 And this would not be an issue at all if he slowly developed out of this over the course of the book, because it makes sense for him to be disillusioned and regretful。 But that just does not happen。 It is really frustrating and such a drag to read the same sad spiel over and over。 He does show growth in the last 50 pages or so, but out of nearly 450 pages, that is nothing。 The writers could have put in more effort to develop Greystripe over the course of the novel instead of shoving it in as an afterthought near the end。 I do like the overall storylines and their resolves, though。 However, that does not make up for the fact that Greystripe's character overall is annoying, tedious, repetitive, and downright boring。 And, if you cannot enjoy the main character, and even come to loathe them, there is almost no way you are enjoying the story。 。。。more

This book had so much wasted potential。 Due to the chapters taking place in the past, this book could have made parallels between Squirrelflight and Graystripe's time as leaders and shown Graystripe helping Squirrelflight。 However, this book just throws it all out the window and goes; "hey, we TOTALLY need another travelling book!"The travelling segments in this book were very boring in my opinion, and the return to the old territories was boring as well。 The only memorable parts about the prese This book had so much wasted potential。 Due to the chapters taking place in the past, this book could have made parallels between Squirrelflight and Graystripe's time as leaders and shown Graystripe helping Squirrelflight。 However, this book just throws it all out the window and goes; "hey, we TOTALLY need another travelling book!"The travelling segments in this book were very boring in my opinion, and the return to the old territories was boring as well。 The only memorable parts about the present chapters were the scenes involving WarriorClan in my opinion。So yeah。 In the end, I'd honestly recommend skipping this book, unless you really like Graystripe (and if that's the case, just go read the Graystripe Manga; it's way better)。 。。。more

Who doesn't love Graystripe? No, but seriously。 I cannot recall another cat in the entire series who has undergone as many challenges and journeys as this cat。 From Silverstream to Riverclan to deputy to kittypet to wanderer to ex-deputy to father to widow again。 Like, holy。 He is probably the most entertaining elder of Thunderclan's history! So, naturally, I want to read more about him。 And in this book, you certainly do! As an elder now, Graystripe has a different perspective on the current situation of the clans。 With Squirrelflight as the Thunderclan's temporary leader and Starclan being blocked off, it's no wonder that the heroic Graystripe wants to do something about it。 But at this time in his life, it's also no shocker that he doubts if this is where he wants to be。 Doubt if this is the place he wants to, essentially, spend the rest of his life。What does he do then? Follows his heart and goes on a journey。 And that's what this book is all about。 Graystripe's journey in discovering his place in Thunderclan as an elder。 Like many other Warriors novels, this book was a solid read。 Good humor, clever little twists here and there。 I especially enjoyed Graystripe reconnecting with older cats we haven't interacted with for quite some moons。 And I'm always a sucker for adventures outside of the normal clan territories。Now, with that being said, I don't give this five stars because it didn't blow me out of the water。 Like, is it fun that Graystripe keeps a vow and saves a bunch of cats at an old age? Of course! And how about him mentoring some younger cats? You bet!But is there something that made me love this book above a lot of my other reads? Not really。 I love the Warriors series for their solid reads。 And even if I never find another 5 star book in the series, I'll keep reading them because 4 stars is good enough for me。 。。。more

Oh my gosh! I am soooo glad we got a book following Graystripe! Considering what happened in Darkness Within, this book was definitely needed! I loved the way the book flips between the past and the present because it added a certain depth to the story。

Here's the thing man--because I grew up reading these, because most of that love was centered in the old forest。。。 something like this was bound to really get me。 Both the dual timelines (when we got to see all those cats that are FUCKING DEAD NOW, like Blackstar! My boy Blackstar!) and also Graystripe going back to the old forest。。。 I love it。 Even retconning Ashfur's personality--didn't mind。 Here's the thing man--because I grew up reading these, because most of that love was centered in the old forest。。。 something like this was bound to really get me。 Both the dual timelines (when we got to see all those cats that are FUCKING DEAD NOW, like Blackstar! Worst super edition yet; extremely bland and boring。 It could have been at least 100 pages shorter and nothing would've changed。 Can they please just let Graystripe die already? I'm sick of the original series characters and unsure why the Erins love the boring characters like him when we have Tree (who can literally talk to and see ghosts) and Squirrelflight。 And because I've seen other comments talking about this, the authors have no control over what goes into the books。 A team of editors com Worst super edition yet; extremely bland and boring。 It could have been at least 100 pages shorter and nothing would've changed。 Can they please just let Graystripe die already? Throws you back n forth throughout! But you love the adventure and get used to the pages turning more quickly than they should!I’m glad Graystripe’s character didn’t end。 I feel like he had more to offer to the Clans。 His self-worth was realized and now he has a purpose。。。 Can’t wait for the next one! 😆

This was amazing。 I wasn’t expecting much because Greystripe has always been slightly boring to me, and I wasn’t sure if I would like it。 And it was great。I much preferred the ‘Then’ part of the book, mainly because there was a large threat (and also BloodClan was back)。 I didn’t really enjoy the ‘Now’ part, because it felt like an extended version of Tawnypelt’s Clan, and I don’t like big quests really。 But since the ‘Then’ half was incredible, it’s probably my third favourite Warrior Cats book This was amazing。 I wasn’t expecting much because Greystripe has always been slightly boring to me, and I wasn’t sure if I would like it。 And it was great。I much preferred the ‘Then’ part of the book, mainly because there was a large threat (and also BloodClan was back)。 I didn’t really enjoy the ‘Now’ part, because it felt like an extended version of Tawnypelt’s Clan, and I don’t like big quests really。 But since the ‘Then’ half was incredible, it’s probably my third favourite Warrior Cats book。 。。。more
